The Howell Area Fire Department is lucky to have such dedicated firefighters and officers. Each year, HAFD forms a committee to select a department member whom they feel best meets the criteria for Firefighter of the Year. The recipient is recognized at the annual HAFD Awards Banquet and is awarded a leather helmet. The Firefighter of the Year also receives his or her place on a recognition plaque which hangs at the main fire station.
