Mission

The Mission of the Howell Area Fire Department Cadet is to assist with fire department operations, assume a support role at emergency incident scenes, and learn to protect lives, health and property in the Howell Area Fire Department response area from the outcomes of fire, medical, structural and environmental emergencies through education, prevention, mitigation and control.

About Cadets

Cadets are students seeking careers in fire fighting. The Cadet program gets these students involved in what they want to do! Cadet Firefighters are considered valuable assets to Department operations and assume support roles at fire scenes. Every precaution is taken to keep them out of danger while still letting them get involved. While at the station, Cadets are responsible for making coffee, sweeping, rolling hose, mopping, and cleaning apparatus as well as any other duties assigned. Don't let these last mentioned duties fool you... There are plenty of opportunities to learn and to get involved in the exiting aspects of the fire department.
